Why A-Levels Open University Doors

A-Levels are the qualification universities trust most. Students pick three or four subjects and study each in real depth over two years, building the kind of independent thinking that degree courses demand. Admissions teams at Russell Group, Ivy League, Canadian and Australian universities all recognise A-Level grades as a reliable measure of readiness for undergraduate study.

At DIS, your child joins live lessons delivered by postgraduate-qualified instructors, all GCC-based and familiar with the challenges of studying across different time zones and school systems. Everything runs through our purpose-built online learning platform. One flat fee of AED 800/month covers every subject your child chooses, with no add-ons or hidden charges.

Common questions

What GCC families ask us most about Cambridge A-Levels online.

What's the difference between AS Level and A Level?
AS Level is the first year of study and a standalone qualification in its own right. A Level covers both years and goes deeper into each subject. Most universities ask for full A Level grades, but AS results can strengthen an application, particularly if your child studies a fourth subject to AS only.
How many A-Level subjects should my child take?
Three A-Levels is the standard requirement for most university courses. Some students take four, especially those applying to competitive programmes like medicine or engineering at top universities. Taking more than four rarely adds value and can stretch a student thin. Quality of grades matters more than quantity.
Which universities accept Cambridge A-Levels?
Cambridge A-Levels are accepted by universities in the UK (including Oxford, Cambridge and all Russell Group institutions), the US (including Ivy League universities), Canada, Australia, Singapore and across Europe. They're also recognised by universities in the UAE and wider GCC. Specific grade requirements vary by course and institution.
How long do A-Levels take to complete?
A-Levels take two academic years. Year one covers AS-level content, and year two covers A2 content, with final examinations at the end of the second year. Some students complete in one year if they're resitting or studying intensively, but the two-year route is standard and recommended.
Can my child switch subjects after starting?
Yes, but timing matters. Switching in the first few weeks is usually straightforward. After that, catching up on missed content becomes harder, and switching in year two is rarely advisable. At DIS, we talk through subject choices carefully before enrolment and support students if early changes are needed.
