Common questions

Everything GCC parents ask before enrolling their child in Checkpoint.

What is Cambridge Checkpoint?
Cambridge Checkpoint is a structured academic programme for students aged 10–13. It covers Grades 5–8 under the Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary curriculum, accredited by CAIE. The programme sets clear learning goals and gives students a measurable foundation before IGCSE.
Which grades does Cambridge Checkpoint cover?
Checkpoint covers Grades 5 through 8. Most students join at age 10 and complete the programme at 13. From there, they move directly into our Cambridge IGCSE programme for Grades 9 and 10.
How many subjects can my child study?
We currently offer seven subjects: Mathematics, English Language, Science, ICT, History, Geography, and Art & Design. Additional subjects are available on request. Your child can study one subject or combine several — it depends on their goals and schedule.
How does Checkpoint prepare students for IGCSE?
Checkpoint teaches the same thinking skills and subject content that IGCSE builds on. Students learn how to structure written answers, work through exam-style questions, and manage their own revision. By the time they start IGCSE, they already know what is expected of them.
Can my child join mid-year?
Yes — we accept students year-round. Our teachers carry out a short assessment during the trial class to see where your child is. They then join the appropriate level and get a personalised catch-up plan if needed.
